All UFC 185 Fighters Drug Tested, No Positive Results

All 24 fighters on the recent UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos fight card were drug tested, and all of them returned negative results.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Monday confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that every fighter provided a urine sample on fight night. All of the test results came back on Monday and revealed no performance-enhancing drugs or substances of abuse.

Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis lost his belt to Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC 185 main event on March 14 in Dallas.

Following on the heels of news that UFC 184 also revealed no banned substance use, the UFC had to see it as welcome news to have back-to-back pay-per-view events with everyone testing clean.

The promotion was reeling in January after UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones tested positive for cocaine, Nick Diaz tested positive for marijuana, and Anderson Silva and Hector Lombard tested positive for steroids. That pushed the UFC in February to announce its own efforts to ramp up out-of-competition testing for its fighters and to push for stiffer penalties from regulatory bodies.

The UFC’s new drug testing policy is expected to go into effect on July 1, 2015.
