UFC 197 Weigh-in Results: Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux Officially Set to Go for Gold

UFC 197 Weigh-in Results: Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux Officially Set to Go for Gold

Despite some bumps and bruises to the fight card, UFC 197: Jones vs. Saint Preux will move ahead with two title fights following Friday's weigh-in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Originally slated to challenge Daniel Cormier, and recently overshadowed by Conor McGregor's cloud of controversy, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will return to the Octagon for first time in nearly a year and a half. Most of his legal troubles behind him, Jones will attempt to regain a piece of the title, when he faces Ovince Saint Preux for the interim UFC light heavyweight championship.

Saint Preux is a late replacement for Cormier, who dropped out due to injury. He has the biggest opportunity of his career, when he steps in the cage with the man many consider the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

“People don't understand, I'm telling you, I'm going to make the most of this opportunity tomorrow night,” said Saint Preux

Despite his troubles outside of fighting, Jones had no trouble on the scale, and neither did Saint Preux.

“This feels absolutely unbelievable. This is awesome. I missed this so much,” said Jones after stepping off the making weight. “I promise to give you guys the best performance ever tomorrow night.”

The man vying with Jones for the top spot on the pound-for-pound list is Demetrious Johnson, who puts his flyweight championship on the line against former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in the night's co-main event.

Notorious for having trouble on the scale, Cejudo hit the mark dead-on at 125 pounds, as did the champion, who rarely has an issue with his weight.

Also featured on the card is former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who has to get past the equally exciting Edson Barboza if he hopes to get back into title contention.
