UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem Sells Out Hometown Champ's First Title Defense

The people of Cleveland showed up in droves to see their native son, Stipe Miocic, defend his UFC heavyweight title.

A sellout crowd of 18,785 spectators showed up to see Miocic take on Alistair Overeem at UFC 203. The gate ended up being a healthy $2.6 million.

The evening was capped off by Miocic successfully defending the UFC heavyweight strap, knocking out Overeem in the first round of their featured contest. The champ defended the belt to the delight of his hometown crowd, as he chanted along with them in celebration of winning the championship fight in Cleveland.

The evening also saw former WWE Superstar CM Punk make his highly anticipated UFC debut. Unfortunately for Punk, Mickey Gall played spoiler and finished the one-time pro wrestler in the first round of their main card bout via submission.
