UFC 246: How to watch Conor McGregor vs. Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone
Conor McGregor makes his return to the Octagon on Saturday at UFC 246 after 15 months away from the sport that made him a global superstar. Just because he hasn’t been fighting, however, doesn’t mean the Irishman hasn’t been making headlines. After multiple run-ins with the law and with sexual assault allegations lingering, McGregor now seems intent on making 2020 his comeback season, winning back his lightweight championship title and possibly challenging for the welterweight title as well.

McGregor’s first roadblock is one of the UFC’s most prolific record holders. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone holds the record for most wins (23), most finishes (16), most career knockdowns (20) and most bonuses (18). And after Saturday night’s main event, Cerrone will hold the record for most UFC bouts with 34, breaking his current tie with Jim Miller. Needless to say, Cerrone has the experience needed to spoil McGregor’s return though the MGM Sports Book currently has McGregor as a -358 favorite with Cerrone at +250.
In his last fight, “The Notorious” was nearly put to sleep by Khabib Nurmagomedov as the Dagestani fighter submitted the Irishman in the fourth round of their lightweight title fight at UFC 229 on Oct. 6, 2018, in Las Vegas. Ring rust won’t be a factor for Cerrone, who has fought five times since McGregor’s loss to Nurmagomedov. Cerrone’s last victory came against Al Iaquinta via unanimous decision in May of 2019 while McGregor hasn’t won a fight since defeating Eddie Alvarez via TKO for the lightweight title at UFC 205 in November 2016. Both men will have something to prove when they step into the cage.
