UFC Fight Night 63 Fighter Bonuses: Chad Mendes and Julianna Pena Among Bonus Winners
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., for UFC Fight Night 63: Mendes vs. Lamas. Facing stiff competition from college basketball's Final Four later in the day, the UFC Fight Night 63 fighters instead made a rare early start, but that didn't stifle their competitive fires, as several impressive performances earned post-fight bonuses.
There was no Fight of the Night bonus, but the UFC did issued four Performance bonuses.
Chad Mendes lived up to his status as a heavy favorite, steamrolling Ricardo Lamas in the main event. Mendes finished the fight in the flurry of strikes just 2:45 into the first round. The impressive finish scored Mendes one of the four $50,000 bonuses.
It was a big return for Julianna Pena after sitting on the sidelines for more than a year due to injury. She not only showed no ring rust, she relentlessly pummeled Milana Dudieva en route to a first-round, bonus-worthy finish.
