UFC Fight Night 65: Hunt vs. Miocic Gate and Attendance from Adelaide

The Ultimate Fighting Championship landed in Adelaide, Australia, on Sunday local time (Saturday in the United States) for UFC Fight Night 65: Miocic vs. Hunt.

It was the promotion’s first event in Adelaide, drawing a crowd of 7,984 to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The gate was $1,051,000 AUD, which equates to about $833,000 U.S. That is roughly on par with other Fight Night type events in Australia.

The UFC Fight Night 65 main event featured Stipe Miocic putting the hurt on local favorite Mark Hunt.

The crowd was obviously hoping for a much better fight, especially from Hunt, but Miocic’s style was too dominant for the New Zealander, who now fights out of Australia.

Miocic continually put Hunt on the canvas and pummeled him with relentless ground and pound. He eventually secured a TKO stoppage midway through the fifth round, although most felt the fight should have been stopped much earlier.

The promotion’s next stop Down Under is expected to be for the UFC 193 pay-per-view on Nov. 15 in Melbourne.
