UFC Fight Night 70 Weigh-in Results: Machida and Romero Spot On, but One Fighter was 3 Pounds Over

The Ultimate Fighting Championship land in Hollywood, Fla., this week with a card that had to be heavily revamped due to problems with the U.S. State Department's computer system that handles visas. The card is headlined by a five-round middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero.

While that bout remained intact, the UFC Fight Night 70 co-main event between Rick Story and Erick Silva had to be moved to another fight card due to the visa issues, as did The Ultimate Fighter Brazil Season 4 finals.

That said, the card moves forward on Saturday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino with Machida trying to remain in the thick of UFC middleweight title talk and Romero attempting to upset Machida and put himself into the championship mix.

When asked how he felt heading into this fight, Romero would say only, “Blessed by God.”

Machida, when asked what Romero's most threatening aspect is, replied, “I think his wrestling. He's a phenomenal wrestler. But I know how to stop his takedown, find my distance, and apply my technique.”

Only one fighter in the line-up had trouble making weight, and that was preliminary card fighter Lewis Gonzalez. He came weighed 174 pounds for his welterweight fight with Leandro “Buscape” Silva. He was given two hours to get down to 171 pounds, which is the allowed weight for a welterweight non-title bout.
