UFC Fight Night 74: Holloway vs. Oliveira Gate and Attendance from Saskatoon

The Ultimate Fighting Championship made its debut in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Sunday with a featherweight headliner that promised fireworks. Well, the Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira main event fizzled out due to injury before said fireworks could be ignited, but overall, the event, and the crowd, delivered.

Fans came out to the SaskTel Centre to the tune of 7,202, producing a gate of $949,000 CAN, which is just under $720,000 US, and that was enough to make the UFC happy.

“A million-dollar gate on a Sunday in Saskatoon, I couldn’t be happier,” said Tom Wright, Director of UFC Canada.

Holloway vs. Oliveira started off strong with both men quick to engage, but an Oliveira takedown attempt ended with the Brazilian appearing to injure his shoulder and the fight being waved off. Holloway got the ‘W' if not in the way he wanted.

Neil Magny looked impressive in his co-main event victory over Erick Silva, however, and Canadian Patrick Cote excited the crowd with the first-ever TKO stoppage of Josh Burkman.
