UFC Fight Night 79 Weigh-in Results: First Event in Seoul Gets the Green Light

UFC Fight Night 79 Results: Benson Henderson Squeaks Past Jorge Masvidal; Future Cloudy

The Ultimate Fighting Championship lands in Seoul, South Korea, this week for the first time in its history. A welterweight match-up pitting Benson Henderson against Jorge Masvidal tops the bill at UFC Fight Night 79 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena.

After the full fight card weighed in on Friday, the event has a green light.

It was a rocky road getting to this point, as the UFC lost its co-main event fight when Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic dropped out of his scheduled bout with Anthony Hamilton due to injury. Cro Cop subsequently retired and then was also suspended following an anti-doping violation.

In addition to losing its co-main event, the UFC Fight Night 79 headliner took a hit a few days later when Henderson's original opponent, Thiago Alves, had to withdraw due to injury. Already listed in the supporting cast, Masvidal quickly agreed to step into the main event to face Henderson.

Despite taking a few hits, the fight card moves forward with 11 bouts made official following the weigh-in.
