UFC Fight Night 82 Fighter Bonuses: Diego Rivas and Wonderboy KOs Win Big

UFC Fight Night 89 Results: Stephen Thompson Picks Rory MacDonald Apart, Calls for Title Shot

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the recipients of the $50,000 fighter bonuses stemming from UFC Fight Night 82: Hendricks vs. Thompson during the event's post-fight press conference at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.

No one was surprised that main event victor Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson was a Performance of the Night bonus winner.

Thompson was masterful in his fight with former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks. Although Hendricks got Thompson down to one knee early, that would be the end of his effective offense.

From there, Thompson took full control of the fight, peppering Hendricks at will with an assortment of punches and kicks before eventually knocking him out at the 3:31 mark of the first round.

Preliminary bout fighter Diego Rivas was on the wrong end of his fight with Noad Lahat for the better part of the first round, but quickly turned the tables as round two started. Twenty-three seconds into the second frame, Rivas scored a blistering flying knee knockout for the win and for the other Performance of the Night bonus.

The Fight of the Night bonus was awarded to Mike Pyle and Sean Spencer, who opened the main card with a back-and-forth battle that ended when Pyle turned the momentum to his favor late in the fight and scored a TKO stoppage at the 4:25 mark of the final frame.

Pyle and Spencer each received a $50,000 bonus for the Fight of the Night honor.
