UFC Fight Night 89 Results: Donald Cerrone TKOs Patrick Cote in the Third

Donald Cerrone finished off Patrick Cote in the third round of their co-main event at UFC Fight Night 89 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on Saturday.

Cerrone battered Cote with striking combinations before picking up the victory via technical knockout at 2:35 of the final round.

Cerrone opened up strong, securing two takedowns midway through the opening round. He nearly secured a rear-naked choke, but Cote was able to fight it off. Cerrone worked to find a submission in the first five minutes, but ultimately returned to the feet prior to round's time expiring.

Cerrone worked the leg kicks in the second round, giving Cote a noticeable limp. After working combinations, Cerrone landed a punch that sent Cote falling to the Octagon floor. Cote, however, recovered, returned to the feet and made it out of the round.

Cerrone landed right-left combination that dropped Cote early in the third. He again dropped Cote with punches later in the round and mounted before landing consecutive strikes on the ground and forcing the referee to stop the fight.

With the win, Cerrone picks up his second straight win at welterweight since going up in weight from 155 pounds.
