UFC on FOX 17 Salaries: Alistair Overeem is Top Earner in Last Fight on Contract
Rafael dos Anjos may have cemented his position as UFC lightweight champion with a first-round stoppage of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in the UFC on FOX 17 main event, but he wasn’t the top earner on the payroll.
That distinction went to Alistair Overeem, who finished out his UFC contract with a victory over Junior dos Santos, as he heads into free agency. Overeem was paid a disclosed purse of $542,857, which easily eclipsed dos Anjos’ $300,000.
Aside from Overeem, his opponent, dos Santos, also earned more than the lightweight champion, scoring a $400,000 payday.
UFC on FOX 17: dos Anjos vs. Cerrone took place on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
