UFC on Fox 6 Fighter Bonuses: Anthony Pettis Leads the Charge with Crushing KO

UFC Lightweight Champ Anthony Pettis Inks Deal with Reebok

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the United Center in Chicago on Saturday night for UFC on Fox 6: Johnson vs. Dodson. The fighters on the card delivered in a big way, and earned post-fight bonuses to match… to the tune of $50,000 each.

The Fight of the Night, to no one’s surprise, went to the main event.

Demetrious Johnson looked like his UFC flyweight title may have been in serious peril midway through a back-and-forth battle with John Dodson, but the champ’s animal instincts then kicked in.

Johnson took over a bit in the fourth and fifth rounds, doing some serious damage to Dodson from the clinch, and retaining his title.

It was a strong effort by both fighter, however, and netted each of them $50,000.

Another no-brainer was Anthony Pettis’ Knockout of the Night finish of Donald Cerrone.

The two locked horns, trying to earn a shot at the UFC lightweight belt currently wrapped around Benson Henderson’s waist. It was Pettis, however, that was a step ahead of Cerrone all the way; landing a kick to the liver that floored him midway through the first round. A couple of punches later and the fight was over.

One of the more surprising post-fight honors handed out went to Ryan Bader, who earned the Submission of the Night.

Many expected Bader to win, but very few felt that he would handle the extremely experienced Vladimir Matyushenko the way he did. Bader finished the 15-plus year veteran with a guillotine choke a mere 50 seconds into the fight.

The UFC handed out a total of $200,000 in official post-fight bonuses.
