UFC Reveals Return to Singapore

The UFC will be returning to Asia on June 17 with a show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. It will be the promotion’s second event in the country, but the first to take place at the 12,000-capacity arena.

The UFCs first ever show in Singapore was held in 2014 and took place at the Marina Bay Sands Resort & Casino. According to Senior Vice President of International Business, Joe Carr, this will be the promotion’s first show of the year in Asia.

“We are very excited to kick off our 2017 Asia event calendar with UFC Fight Night Singapore. Singapore is the home of our Asia headquarters and as such has always been a key market in our strategy to grow the UFC brand and the sport of MMA in the ASEAN region.”

The UFC has previously held Asian events in Manila, Macau, Tokyo, and Seoul. This will be the first fight card the promotion has held in Asia since 2015, although a scheduled show in the Philippines last year was canceled due to an injury to headliner BJ Penn.

No fights have been announced for the card, but in the lead up to UFC Fight Night Singapore, UFC, in conjunction with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and Grapple Asia, will stage a series of activities and regional tournaments in Singapore to grow and develop the region’s talent.
