UK snow forecast: Haydock Park postponement latest for Betfair Chase Day
Weather warnings remain in place across the UK ahead of the meeting at Haydock Park Racecourse on Saturday. The Betfair Chase Day takes centre stage at Haydock as the jump season continues.
The past few days have seen inclement weather strike the UK, with Storm Bert creating snowy and icy conditions. Premier League football returns this weekend after the international break, but away from the pitch, Haydock Park hosts the Betfair Chase.
The first race is the Betfair Supports Safer Gambling Week Newton Novices' Hurdle at 12.08pm. The Betfair Chase is at 3.05pm, but there have been concerns around the weather in the Merseyside area in the days leading up to the meeting.

The Met Office issued warnings for snow and ice this week, and now further warnings have been issued ahead of the weekend. Certain areas of the UK have been given yellow weather warnings for wind and rain.
"A mostly dry but chilly evening. Cloud building overnight ahead of Storm Bert's arrival with rain and hill snow becoming widespread by dawn," the warning from the Met Office said in their forecast for the Haydock area for Friday night. "Patchy frost abating as the rain arrives. Minimum temperature -2°C."
The warning continued for Saturday: "Storm Bert [is] bringing a widely unsettled and potentially disruptive day with heavy, persistent rain and gales, severe along coasts.
"Turning noticeably milder, resulting in a rapid melt of lying snow. Maximum temperature 12°C."
Gates open at Haydock Park at 10.05am, with the last race taking place at 3.40pm.
