Snow is falling, all around me, children playing, having fun. The start to the greatest Christmas song of all time - no arguments please.

Certain aspects of the Shakin' Stevens Christmas classic are pertinent on Tuesday morning, with snow actually falling across part of the UK. Whether children are playing and having fun, however, is another matter, given they should all be in school.

Although it may be that they are not in school after all. Snow falling across the UK is causing travel chaos with a number of schools shutting as a result too.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather warning for Tuesday reads: "Rain, sleet and snow will linger across central parts of England and Wales this morning. Gradually turning drier this afternoon with some brightness and feeling cold. Snow showers continuing in northern Scotland. Windy around coasts.

"Wintry showers continuing in the north tonight, and around some coasts. Largely dry elsewhere with largely clear skies. Widespread frost and some icy stretches where showers fall."

Then on Wednesday there is more, but in fewer places, with the warning reading: "Another cold day with wintry showers in the north. Drier and brighter elsewhere with sunny spells. A brisk northerly wind will add an element of wind chill."

So what does that mean for the return of the Premier League this weekend?

Arsenal have a home game with Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, with little to no snow expected to fall in London. That match is in no danger of postponement unless the forecast dramatically changes.

Chelsea go to Leicester for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off, and while there has been snow already in Leicester, it is forecast to ease off by Wednesday and there should be no disruption come Saturday.

Tottenham travel the furthest north, with a clash with Manchester City on Saturday evening at 5.30pm. There has been snow in Manchester already with the potential for more on Wednesday and Thursday morning, but thereafter it is due to stop and there should also be no problem with the big Premier League clash going ahead.
