TUF 21 Finale Fighter Salaries: Jorge Masvidal Tops $596,000 Payroll

Jorge Masvidal Steps in for Thiago Alves in UFC Seoul

Stephen Thompson stole the spotlight on Sunday night, living up to his “Wonderboy” moniker, by knocking out No. 9 ranked welterweight Jake Ellenberger in The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale main event.

It wasn’t a garden variety knockout that earned Thompson $42,000. It was a knockout courtesy of landing two spinning hook kicks to the head that also put Thompson in the highlight reel footage for years to come.

In the finals of the reality series, Kamaru Usman earned his $20,000 by overcoming a staggering Hayder Hassan uppercut to put his American Top Team rival on his back and finish the fight with an arm-triangle choke. With the win, the Blackzilian also won $300,000 for his team.

The big winner on Sunday night in terms of payroll, however, was Jorge Masvidal, who earned $102,000 (plus a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus) for his knockout of Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira.

The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale took place on Sunday, July 12, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The fighter salaries were released by the Nevada Athletic Commission to MMAWeekly.com on Monday.
