Fabrizio Romano confirmed Liverpool have submitted their proposal to sign Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, while the ultimate Reds source named two further targets high on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.

Midfield additions will take centre stage at Anfield this summer. That area of the pitch has unquestionably been Liverpool’s weakest this season, and a slew of impending exits have turned an overhaul from a luxury into a necessity.

Indeed, Arthur Melo will depart once his loan spell from Juventus concludes. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave as free agents, as could James Milner who Brighton are favourites to sign.

However, a Seagulls midfielder in the form of Alexis Mac Allister may move the other way not long after Milner takes his leave.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Thursday Liverpool have submitted their proposal to Brighton and also tabled personal terms to the player.

The transfer guru added negotiations are ‘advancing’ before claiming there’s a ‘100 percent’ feeling the Argentine World Cup winner will leave Brighton this summer.

Figures in the region of £60m-£70m have been quoted alongside a Mac Allister move.

Now, the ultimate source for Liverpool news – The Times’ Paul Joyce – has provided his take on the situation.

Writing for The Times, Joyce stated Mac Allister is ‘poised to leave’ the AMEX at season’s end.

He’ll make a decision on his future once the campaign concludes, though Liverpool will push to wrap up a deal quickly with Klopp hoping to have a new-look midfield in place before pre-season begins.

Aside from Mac Allister, Joyce also namechecked two further midfielders Liverpool are targeting.

Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch namechecked

Joyce wrote: “Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch, the Bayern Munich midfielder, are among a number of targets after Liverpool decided that it was more prudent to spend their transfer funds on several players, rather than trying to make one megastar signing, such as Jude Bellingham.”

While Joyce noted Mount and Gravenberch are “among a number of targets”, it’s perhaps telling they were the ones selected to be named by the journalist.

Sky Sports previously reported Liverpool made a ‘strong pitch’ to Bayern Munich’s Gravenberch.

The Dutchman was reportedly receptive to Liverpool’s advances, though Bayern’s stance remains Gravenberch will not be sold. Clearly, work is still to be done to induce a Bayern U-turn.

Elsewhere, Mount is out of contract with Chelsea at the end of next season. If the two time and reigning Chelsea Player of the Year doesn’t pen fresh terms in the coming months, Todd Boehly will not hesitate to sanction a sale.

Chelsea are in desperate need of balancing the books and trimming their bloated squad down to size this summer.

As such, the club’s decision-makers will no longer allow players to enter the final year of their deals and run the risk of losing highly saleable assets for nothing in crippling free agent exits.
