Uriah Hall Makes Quick Return to Save Gegard Mousasi Bout

Fresh Off Stunning KO, Uriah Hall Steps in for Michael Bisping at UFC 193

Having fought just two weeks ago, Uriah Hall has agreed to make a quick turnaround to save the UFC Fight Night 75 co-main event.

UFC officials announced on Wednesday that Hall agreed to face Gegard Mousasi at UFC Fight Night 75 on Sept. 27 in Saitama, Japan. He steps in for an injured Roan Carneiro. The nature of Carneiro's injury was not revealed.

Hall (11-5) was widely regarded as the next great prospect when he rolled through the competition on season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter. That was before he was upset by Kelvin Gastelum in the show's Finale and then by John Howard in his subsequent trip to the Octagon.

He has since rebounded winning four out of his last five bouts, including his most recent trip to the Octagon on Aug. 8, when Hall TKO'd late replacement Oluwale Bamgbose in Nashville.

A former Strikeforce and Dream champion, Mousasi (37-5-2) has had a difficult time getting to a UFC championship bout. He’s been close a couple of times, but was derailed by Lyoto Machida and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Since the loss to Jacare, Mousasi has strung together back-to-back victories over former Pride champion Dan Henderson and, more recently, Costas Philippou.

A five-round heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson headlines the UFC Fight Night 75 card, which also includes the featherweight finals of the new reality series “Road to UFC: Japan.”
