US Open golf 2022: What time is it, what TV channel is it on and what are the latest odds?

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have put their names into contention for the US Open which takes place at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, next month - but that doesn't mean either, or both, will definitely take part.

Woods played in his first tournament in more than a year at the Masters, finishing 47th, as he works his way back from injuries sustained in a horror car crash in February 2021. He has committed to playing at The Open at St. Andrews in July, but not in the PGA Championship at Southern Hills or the US Open.

Mickelson hasn't played on the tour since January after controversial comments he made about a planned Saudi Arabia-backed golf league and his criticisms of the PGA Tour went public.

They were among the 9,265 golfers to enter the tournament. Woods and Mickelson are among 48 players - including 12 past U.S. Open champions - who are exempt and have an automatic entry. Thousands of other entrants will try to qualify through local tournaments.

When is it?

The first round of the US Open is on Thursday June 16. The final round will be on Sunday June 19.

What time will it start?

Local time on the East Coast is five hours behind British Summer Time. That means the early starters will begin their first rounds around noon UK time. The full field may not complete their rounds until the early hours.

What happened last year?

Jon Rahm became the first US Open champion from Spain when he finished with two brilliant birdies to outlast Louis Oosthuizen by one stroke at Torrey Pines.

An emotional Rahm dedicated the victory to his late compatriot Seve Ballesteros, the man who put Spain on the golfing map by winning five major titles before dying of brain cancer at age 54.

"This is definitely for Seve. I know he wanted to win this one most of all," said Rahm. Rahm fired a final-round 67 for a six-under-par 278 total, and was confirmed as the champion when Oosthuizen was unable to eagle the closing par-five.
