US Open incinerates Seahawks fan who dared question if tennis is a sport

The Wimbledon tennis tournament is being played right now, but that doesn't mean other Grand Slams can't have their fun online. Or inflict violence.

The US Open Tennis Twitter account went viral Saturday at the expense of a user with the handle @seahawksfan2314, who responded to a Nick Kyrgios highlight from the SportsCenter account by saying "not a sport."

Here's how the US Open responded:

That would be a reference to the Seattle Seahawks' current quarterback situation after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos this offseason, in exchange for former Broncos starter Drew Lock plus a boatload of draft picks and other players. The Seahawks are now unquestionably headed for a rebuilding year, with an eye likely on the quarterback class of the 2023 NFL draft.

Then, @seahawksfan2314 responded to the US Open's burn with "Ratio + ur event is poverty" and the tennis tournament responded by burning the account (and Lock) even harder.

It is at this point that @seahawksfan2314 noted Lock isn't even the likely starter for the Seahawks — that would be Geno Smith — but "well actually Geno Smith is our starter" probably wasn't as effective comeback as they hoped. The account even called for reinforcements to stop the ongoing ratio, but the US Open just kept coming after them.

Look, when your team's best remaining player has to ask a tennis tournament to stop owning your team through you, it is probably time to log off.

The 2022 US Open, whose Twitter bio now includes "definitely a sport," is scheduled to commence qualifying rounds on Aug. 23 and its first round on Aug. 29. We'll see if @seahawksfan2314 or Lock have some free tickets in their future.
