Papua New Guinea had won the toss and chose field first. The USA found themselves struggling for 29/3 but then Jaskaran Malhotra took center-stage with Aaron Jones (22) and Nisarg Patel (20) giving him much-needed support. He went after the PNG bowlers with gay abandon and stroked 16 sixes and 4 fours in his 124-ball 173* innings.

During his innings, he singled out Gaudi Toka, who unfortunately went wicketless in the match. Jaskaran Malhotra took over the bowler to hit six sixes in the last over of the match. Initially, the USA’s batting line-up collapsed as the team was reduced to 72/4 in the 20th over.

Thanks to his amazing innings, the USA finished with a final score of 271/9. Jaskaran also became only the second batsman in ODI history to hit six sixes in an over. The first was South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs, who achieved the feat in the 2007 ICC World Cup against the Netherlands’ leg-spinner Dan Van Bunge.
