​USF DB Hassan Childs arrested at hospital after road-rage shooting

The new accusation comes in connection with an incident that occurred before Jackson's arrest last week on the same charges.

South Florida senior defensive backHassan Childs was arrested at the hospital Monday after beinginjured in a shooting over the weekend, the Tampa Police Department announced .

According to a news release,Childs was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession following a road rage-induced shooting on Saturday night.

Jovanni Jimenez told police he was driving with his wife and 3-year-old son around 11:15 p.m. ET Saturday when he pulled over to let a man who he said had been tailgating him pass his car. Jimenez's wife told her husband that the man in the other vehicle, later identified as Childs, had pointed a gun at them as he passed.

Both vehicles continued and Childs reportedly tailgated Jimenez again, then pointed a silver handgun toward Jimenez when Jimenez pulled over. "In fear of his life and his family’s life," according to the police report, Jimenez then pulled his own gun and shot Childs three times, striking him in the upper right arm, torso and beneath his arm. Jimenez then drove home and called 911.

Childs, 22,was listed in stable condition Monday with non-life-threatening injuries. Police found a loaded firearm and a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle.

Police said both men have valid concealed weapons permits.
