Vale dismiss Adams speculation

Port Vale have moved to quell rumours linking boss Micky Adams with the vacant managerial position at League Two rivals Gillingham.

Andy Hessenthaler's second spell in charge of the Kent club came to an end last week after he failed to secure at least a play-off place.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Adams could be lined up by Gills chairman Paul Scally, a close friend of Adams.

A statement on the official Port Vale Twitter account said: "Micky Adams has dismissed reports linking him to the vacant manager's job at Gillingham. Micky is currently on holiday."
