After vanquishing Cook, Oz pacers to target 'warrior' Graeme Smith

Melbourne, Jan 29 (ANI): Australian pacers are all set to target South African captain Graeme Smith to make the No.1-ranked Proteas side crumble, as they did with skipper Alastair Cook and England team during the 5-0 Ashes whitewash. Smith became South Africa's youngest skipper at age of 22. Turning 33 on Saturday, he has led South Africa through all controversies and scored 9220 Test runs approximately at an average of 50. The Australians believe that South Africa's steely warrior, who has twice had bones in his arm broken by Mitchell Johnson deliveries, may not be the batsman he once was, according to the Courier Mail. Australian pacer Peter Siddle said Australia would go after Smith in the same hostile way, and added that they always tried to target the captain and Smith is the top target again, like Cook. He said Australian bowling unit is the best he has have played and there is no doubt they will perform the way they did against England again. Paacer Ryan Harris pointed out it is a huge bonus for Australia that South Africa's all-round legend Jacques Kallis has retired ahead of next month's three-Test series. (ANI)
