Watch: I’m A Celeb stars battle eating trial
The 46-year-old TV presenter joined ex Corrie star Beverley Callard and Radio 1 DJ Jordan North to take part in Frights of The Round Table and win meals for their fellow campmates.
Kay was challenged with eating half a sheep brain and a cow’s teat, which he described as tasting like “mouldy cheese mixed with burnt tyre rubber, the weirdest things I’ve ever eaten in my life.”
When faced with chomping on deer’s testicle that squirted as he chewed, Kay struggled to swallow the food and had to spit it into a bucket.
But the Family Fortunes presenter was determined not to let his fellow celebrities down and so asked hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for another chance.
Kay gagged repeatedly but North cheered him on and he managed to swallow it.
He said: “It was tough, it was horrible and I think it was pretty evident what came out of it when it was in my mouth...”
North faced eating goats eyes, fermented catfish, cow’s tongue and sheep’s penis
He laughed: “Is it a willy?!”
North struggled to swallow but Kay told him: “You do the penis, I’ve done the balls, we’ve got a full set if you do this.”
Callard, 63, is a vegan and so was given cheese fruit, fermented plums and fermented tofu to eat.
After struggling to swallow the tofu, she confessed: “I’ve only been vegan since March...”
All the celebrities managed to chew and swallow the foul food theywere presented with - winning 10 out of 10 stars and meals for the whole camp.
The hungry celebs were given quail for their evening meal, and were delighted to learn they had been provided with garlic to flavour it with.
Olympic athlete Sir Mo Farah, 37, “It was so, so nice to have a bit of taste!”
The other contestants taking part in the show include former EastEnders actor Shane Richie, 56, vlogger Giovanna Fletcher, journalist and broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, Strictly dancer AJ Pritchard, Paralympic javelin thrower Hollie Arnold and EastEnders actor Jessica Plummer.
Ant and Dec revealed that new arrivals opera star Russell Watson, 53, and West End performer Ruthie Henshall 53, will be joining the camp for tomorrow’s show.
This was supposed to be a surprise for the current contestants. But after being told they would all be taking part in the next trial - called Stage Fright - Richie seemed to know what the producers had planned, telling his fellow campmates , “Stage Fright - that’s R and R.”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic the jungle reality show is being shot at Gwrych Castle in north Wales.
