Ruben Dias has reminded Liverpool that Manchester City are not out of the Premier League title race despite the current five-point gap. The champions are currently on a four-game losing streak for the first time under Pep Guardiola.

Their defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday meant league leaders Liverpool opened up a cushion to the Blues thanks to the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield later in the evening. The Reds have lost just one of their 11 Premier League fixtures this season.

Liverpool and Man City are the only two teams to accumulate more than 20 points so far, with Arsenal's draw with Chelsea on Sunday keeping both clubs on 19 points and thus nine points behind Arne Slot’s team. City come to Anfield on December 1, the third back game after the international break.

Dias has underscored that the season is far from over and highlighted that the campaign is not yet even at its halfway stage. Speaking about the title race to Sky Sports, the centre-back said: “Just as we’re not out [of it]... no-one’s out.

"It’s still early days in the season. And obviously there is still a lot to happen.

“We all know how the Premier League is, it’s why we love it so much. We also know that this is going to be a very wild season in terms of time to rest and just dealing with it and moving on forward.

“So it’s a long run. We’re, what, one-third of the way, getting to half way (through the season)? So yeah, there’s still a lot to play.”

Speaking after the defeat to Brighton, Pep Guardiola conceded that City might not have enough for the title this season. “Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year another team deserve it,” he said.

“Today in the press conference I was asked if it was the end of the era. I know people want that. I smell it for many, many years.

“What we have done in these years, people have said it’s so difficult, but if somebody would like to beat us it is going to happen because in the next 50 years we’re not going to win all the Premier Leagues. It’s impossible.”
