Vestergaard, Ricardo, Hermansen – Leicester City injury update ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Jannik Vestergaard is in line to return to the Leicester City starting line-up for the crunch clash with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
The Danish defender, one of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first-choice centre-back duo alongside Conor Coady, limped out of the defeat to Aston Villa and was then missing for the 6-2 victory over QPR at the weekend. Wout Faes started in his place, scoring a spectacular goal to wrap up the victory.
But Vestergaard is back in training and should be fit to face Palace in what is a crucial game in City’s Premier League survival bid. If he’s fit, it would be expected he partners Coady again.

“He’s part of team training today,” van Nistelrooy said of Vestergaard at his press conference on Monday. “We’re expecting he can be there. If all goes well today and he can be there tomorrow, then I expect him to be there on Wednesday with the squad.”
With Vestergaard back and with no fresh injuries to report, that leaves four City players on the sidelines. There is hope that Mads Hermansen (groin) will make enough progress that he can be considered for selection later this month, while Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) is still around a fortnight away.
On Monday, van Nistelrooy confirmed that the timeline over Ricardo Pereira’s recovery from hamstring surgery had not changed, and that he is still due back in March. Abdul Fatawu is out for the season with an ACL tear.
