Victor Oladipo could be cleared for full contact in November following quad surgery

It will be a while before Victor Oladipo gets back on the court. Oladipo could be cleared for full contact in November provided his recovery from quad surgery goes well, according to the doctor who performed the sugery.

Dr. Jonathan Glashow, who repaired Oladipo's quad, spoke to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski about the procedure. Glashow said he is "very optimistic" about Oladipo's recovery, and believes Oladipo will "play next year."

"I'm very optimistic that I could clear him in six months, by November. I think he's going to play really well again.

"[The surgery] went extremely well, and it's healing beautifully. I'm confident he'll play next year."

Glashow also revealed the severity of Oladipo's injury. Oladipo's quad had to be reattached. Glashow said he was "amazed [Oladipo] was playing with what he had."

Oladipo played in just 33 games last season due to the injury. Prior to that, Oladipo had surgery on that same quad in 2019. That surgery limited Oladipo to just 19 games during the 2019-20 NBA season.

Victor Oladipo looking for his next team

The injury came at an awful time for Oladipo. After completing his four-year, $85 million contract, Oladipo will be a free agent after the NBA Finals. Teams interested in Oladipo will have to keep tabs on his progress as he rehabs from the injury.

Should Oladipo recover as expected, he would not be ready for the start of the 2021-22 NBA season. After altering the start of the season in 2020, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he expects the 2021-22 NBA season to begin in October.

Once Oladipo is cleared for full contact, it's unclear how much time he'll need before he's ready to play in games.

Over his career, Oladipo has averaged 17.5 points and 4.6 assists per game.
