Victor Osimhen transfer truth confirmed as Chelsea get new path with compensation fee
Paris Saint-Germain showed an interest in signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, but did not make a bid for the player, the club’s transfer chief Luis Campos has confirmed.
Chelsea held an interest in Osimhen throughout the transfer window, and tried to complete a deal on deadline day, but they could not reach an agreement with Napoli over a transfer. PSG were also credited with an interest over the summer window, but a move to France never materialised.
The situation left Osimhen at Napoli, where he wasn't going to play due to the transfer saga, with the window in England and France closed. The window in Turkey remaining open resulted in the striker making a shock loan move to Galatasaray .
More details about PSG’s interest in Osimhen have now been revealed by Campos. While he confirmed the club’s interest, he has hinted that they made a decision not to pursue it.
"He (Osimhen) was studied as one of the possibilities but we concluded that we were very satisfied with Gonçalo Ramos, Kolo Muani and Marco Asensio,” the PSG chief said at the Thinking Football Summit.
When asked if the club made an offer for the striker, he added: "No, but I understand that I have been linked to Osimhen since I brought him to Lille from Charleroi and because I have known him since he was 16. We have an excellent relationship and we respect each other a lot. It's the market, we all talk to everyone."

PSG’s decision not to act on their interest could be good news for Chelsea when the January window opens. While Osimhen has signed on a season-long loan for Galatasary, it is understood that the deal includes a break clause that can be triggered by Chelsea among other clubs.
The clause would see his loan move to Galatasaray ended to allow Osimhen to complete a move elsewhere. If that happens then the Turkish club will receive a compensation fee for the loan deal ending early.
Therefore, if Enzo Maresca still feels the need to bring in another striker when the January opens, then Osimhen could still be an option. He is yet to make his debut for his new club, but could do so when Galatasaray take on Rizespor at home on Saturday evening.
