VIDEO: Schweinsteiger and Villa throw first pitches for Yankees and Cubs

The feted footballers were baseball players for a moment as they got involved with MLB in a ceremonial capacity

Two World Cup winners changed code this week as Bastian Schweinsteiger and David Villa had their talents enlisted by a pair of Major League Baseball teams.

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder Schweinsteiger, who is now playing for the Chicago Fire, got the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies underway Tuesday with the first pitch.

Meanwhile, former Barcelona star Villa, who is now at New York City FC, threw the first pitch at a baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Thank you @Yankees for inviting me to throw out the first pitch. It was an honor! Thanks @DidiG18 and @CC_Sabathia for the help. #PlayBall pic.twitter.com/ggkHoCdA91

Both players seem to have been good luck charms for their respective cities as the Yankees and Cubs won their games.
