A ball boy - or rather, ball man - made quite the fool of himself in the Copa Sudamericana clash between Corinthians and Universidade de Chile (La U) on Thursday morning.

The man by the advertising hurled himself to the ground after the slightest of touches from a La U player, who rushed to retrieve the ball for a throw in.

The game between the Brazilian and Chilean sides was part of an international club competition between South American sides that has taken place every year since 2002, with Chapecoense the most recent side to lift the trophy.

In what was only a first round match, this game had everything - although not all of it was positive. There were reports that Chilean fans had clashed with police before the game had even started and that they went on to destroy the bathrooms inside the stadium as rioting broke out during the fixture, leading to seven injuries and 26 arrests.

On a more positive not however, the game had some exciting action and some cracking goals as Corinthians ran out 2-0 winners over their opposition.

Rodriguinho was first on the scoresheet, poking the ball home from close range after a speculative effort was pushed onto the bar. Later on in the game, Jadson doubled the lead with a fantastic finish from outside the box, wrapping up the win for the Brazilian side.
