Torino striker Maxi Lopez has been caught on camera playing a cheeky prank on the official that took charge of his team's Serie A clash with Crotone last Sunday.
The former Barcelona man was seen squirting water from a bottle at referee Daniele Doveri's backside in the 31st minute.
The official had his back turned at the time as he was attending to an injury that had brought a brief halt to the match.
Clearly feeling himself being soaked by water, Doveri was seen spinning around but failed to catch Lopez in the act as the forward pretended nothing had happened and tried his best to look innocent.
Whilst it was fairly obvious who the culprit was, the referee opted not to show the Torino man a yellow card and laughed off the incident instead.
Although Doveri himself was forgiving, The Sun report that fans are split over the prank, with some condemning Lopez for a perceived lack of respect.
It is not thought that the decision to substitute the Argentinian at half-time was related to 'bottlegate', however his manager Siniša Mihajlović may just remind him that other referees may not be so receptive to such pranks in the future.
