Viktor Gyokeres breaks silence on Man United transfer and Ruben Amorim contact amid Arsenal interest
Arsenal-linked attacker Viktor Gyokeres has finally responded to transfer rumours linking him with a swift exit from Portuguese champions Sporting CP.
The Sweden international's future has been under the spotlight - even more so now Ruben Amorim officially made the move to the Gunners' Premier League rivals Manchester United this week.
Just as his manager has taken the next step in his career, it has been suggested Gyokeres has an £83m release clause ready to activate and come next summer could even be available for even less, £50m-£58m, based upon a gentleman's agreement.
"It’s very sad that he’s leaving, but of course we understand his decision," the 26-year-old freshly told Fotbollskanalen of Amorim's departure. "He has of course meant a lot [to me] considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much."
Man United may throw a spanner in the works were the Gunners to go all-in for the attacker they have held interest in for a longer period of time, although two factors do fall in their favour. One is Amorim's own admission that he will not actively take players from his former club midway through the current season.
And following on from that, when asked in his latest interview about the speculation around Man United, Gyokeres has admitted he is yet to receive contact from anyone at Old Trafford - even his former coach.

"He [Amorim] probably has some strikers there already, so we’ll see," the attacker explained. "No, he hasn’t [contacted me]. It’s fun but nothing I attach any importance to because it’s talk and nothing concrete."
As a final indicator to Arsenal and any other interested party over the conditions for his future transfer, Gyokeres added: "That you get an important role and that you get to play. That’s the most important thing. There are other things that also need to be in place, but I’ll take it when it comes."
