Vinicius Jr has made it clear he has fond feelings towards Liverpool ahead of the Champions League Final on Saturday (June 1). Real Madrid takes on Borussia Dortmund at Wembley with Brazil star Vinicius Jr looking to win the prestigious competition for the second time.

Ahead of the big game, the attacker was interviewed by Real Madrid's club media - and Liverpool twice came up as he answered quick-fire questions. When he was asked the away stadium he most enjoyed playing in during the Champions League, he responded with "against Liverpool".

He was also asked the best Champions League Final, and pointed to the one he won, which came against the Reds in 2021/22. He scored the winner in the 59th minute at the Stade de France to deny Jürgen Klopp and co.

It's obvious that Vinicius Jr has fond memories of playing against Liverpool, and it's no surprise. He scored twice at Anfield in a 5-2 win in 2023, the last time he played at the iconic stadium, which undoubtedly left a big impression.

Vinicius Jr also left a big impression on Klopp on that occasion. After the game, the Reds manager defended Vinicius Jr in the wake of a bizarre question about whether he brings racist abuse upon himself and declared: “He was that night [Champions League final] – with a really young age – didn’t get fazed by the way the game went, how they were not always dominant and stuff like that.”

“He was there in the decisive moment, I’m pretty sure that already makes him a Real Madrid legend at a very young age. I hope he’s not fazed by any idiots who say something about him.”

Before Vinicius Jr's first trip to Anfield in 2021, Klopp said: "I was impressed, not surprised He’s obviously an outstanding talent. Everybody knew it before Real Madrid signed him but since then he became obviously even better. And that’s cool.

"Special plans? Yeah that’s unfortunately the case. You saw one goal I think we could have defended. The other goal, as I’ve said, was just a great, great long ball and then a great first touch and great finish.

"So yeah, we will try to avoid [allowing] the passes in his direction – which is a big task actually! But impressed yes, surprised not." says: There have been some transfer links for Vinicius Jr, and those resurfaced when it emerged Kylian Mbappe would be joining Real Madrid. Unfortunately for Liverpool, it seems highly unlikely they'd be able to convince him to leave the club where he has had so much success in recent years.

Having said that, Vinicius Jr's fond memories of Anfield are at least an indication that he has a positive impression of the club. Football is a funny old game, and if the time does come for him to move on from Spain then there's no doubt any club - including Liverpool - would be interested if the opportunity presented itself.
