Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed: Alex Noren looks strong on home soil, Max Kieffer the man in form

This year the event heads to a new venue, Ullna Golf and Country Club, north of Stockholm. It's a par 72, set at 6,189 yards for the women and 7,001 yards for the men, so they play off different tees but everything else is the same.

So far the first two years of the Scandinavian Mixed has seen the men and women share the winning honours one apiece.

The defending champion is Sweden's Linn Grant, who won the 2022 event by nine strokes, and was recently victorious on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Alex Noren will tee off as the 14/1 favourite, as he returns to his homeland to compete on the kind of short course that should suit his game.

His form on the USPGA Tour has been reasonable without being stellar, but this field is considerably lower than anything he faces across the pond. Suggested bet: Alex Noren each-way in the Scandinavian Mixed

Linn Grant is next in at 16/1, and we have already highlighted above her suitability for such a test and that she has recent winning form.

At around the same price is our third homegrown contender, Alexander Bjork, who has been going well on the DP World Tour of late, albeit without winning, but his strong finish to place last week in Germany bodes well.

Others to consider

Max Kieffer had a chance to win the European Open last week in his home country, where he had to settle for the joint-runner-up spot alongside compatriot Marcel Siem.

Max could not quite get the job done, but has been up there in recent weeks and if that form can continue here then he looks a good shout at the 33/1 available.

Suggested bet: Max Kieffer each-way in the Scandinavian Mixed

Frenchman Julien Brun has his game in good order, and although he can be inconsistent he is striking the ball well. Plus, his metrics show that he is peaking, so at 50/1 he may prove each-way value in this field.

Andy Sullivan is also working through some gremlins in his game. Sully likes short courses but does struggle to put four good rounds together.

He is 66/1 outright and the same price to be first-round leader, which might be a better option given his inconsistency over four days.

Suggested bet: Andy Sullivan each-way to lead after the first round

John Axelsen did us a big favour last week in the outright and top Scandinavian markets. He is now hitting his best form since he joined the tour, which means the 80/1 available may still be decent value.

And finally, a 150/1 shot! Angel Hidalgo is another golfer who likes short courses, and is showing glimpses of decent form at present.

He's that price for a reason, of course, but if the Spaniard shows up here, then those odds could look huge by Sunday afternoon.

Suggested bet: Angel Hidalgo each-way in the Scandinavian Mixed

Suggested bet summary: Alex Noren, Max Kieffer and Angel Hidalgo outright each-way, plus Andy Sullivan each-way for first-round leader .
