Chelsea star Djordje Petrovic believes Benjamin Sesko "has everything" needed to become a Premier League success.

The RB Leipzig frontman looks destined to join England's top flight this summer, with both Arsenal and Chelsea heavily in the running for his services. However, it appears Mikel Arteta's side are closing in on the Slovenia international after gaining an edge over their rivals in the hunt.

And Petrovic - who served as Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper following injury to Robert Sanchez this past season - believes whoever snags his signature is getting a top-quality asset. The 24-year-old watched Sesko on several occasions last season after discovering his club were interested in signing him - and told his club he'd be a guaranteed hit in England.

The breakout Blues talent looks set to travel to Euro 2024 with Serbia this summer and identified Sesko as one of the main threats belonging to Group C rivals Slovenia. “I know [about the rumours linking him with Chelsea] and have been following him,” Petrovic told Slovenian outlet Nogomania. “He’s having a good half-season, he’s in great scoring form. I read that he’s scored in his last seven matches in a row. He seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros.

“He’s a forward who has everything a modern player needs. He’s tall, strong, fast and intelligent. I’ve watched some of his matches. Of course he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely! He has great potential and he’s been successfully proving it in recent months.”

Sesko, 21, took some time to settle after arriving at Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg last summer for a fee of around £20million. However, he went on to finish his season with 18 goals in 42 games across all competitions and became the youngest player to score in seven successive Bundesliga outings.

Arteta spent much of this past season without the injured Gabriel Jesus, deploying the likes of Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard as makeshift options leading his line. Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to be linked with strikers despite Nicolas Jackson eventually hitting some consistency in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United and Newcastle have also been heavily linked with the player, and Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, was recently spotted attending a game at Old Trafford. However, it seems Arsenal - the only interested Premier League club who can offer him Champions League football - lead the way, with the player reportedly available for £45m.

Since joining Salzburg at just 16 years of age in 2019, 6'5" Sesko has gone from strength to strength in his career to date and impressed in each challenge put in front of him. That being said, England's top flight has proved unforgiving for many a young import in the past.

Gareth Southgate's England will also come up against the Slovenia star this summer, with the two teams wrapping up their Group C campaigns against one another on June 25.
