Ward-Prowse and Walker-Peters stunners nominated for Premier League goal of the month
TWO Saints strikes have been nominated for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month competition.
James Ward-Prowse’s knuckleball free-kick against Wolves has been selected, whilst Kyle Walker-Peters’ volley against Manchester City has also been chosen.
Both goals were of fine quality – Ward-Prowse showcasing individual ability to deceive Jose Sa from long range, whilst Walker-Peters’ smart finish rounded off a devastating counter-attack.
No club had more than two players nominated, with Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic’s strikes against Tottenham and Liverpool, respectively, chosen.
In total eight goals will be pitted against each other, with notable strikes including Joshua Sargent’s scorpion flick against Watford and Kovacic’s nonchalant finish from outside the area in Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool.
