Warren O’Hora seals Hibs transfer as David Gray wins race for defender

Hibs have confirmed Warren O'Hora as their second summer signing.

The defender attracted interest from several clubs down south after leaving MK Dons as a free agent. But the 25-year-old has decided that his future lies at Easter Road after holding talks with new boss David Gray. The Irish centre-back featured in all but one of MK Dons' League Two fixtures last season, popping up with three goals, as they missed out on promotion.

Now, the ex-Republic of Ireland Under-19 international will make a fresh start in Scotland after the Hibees won the race for his signature. Boss Gray said: "I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring Warren to the Club.

"As a defender, he’s a brave, aggressive organiser, with great leadership qualities. He’s very comfortable on the ball and confident playing out from the back. We look forward to working with him."

Sporting Director Malky Mackay added: “It’s great to be able to welcome Warren to Hibernian FC. When I came to the Club, it was clear that we needed to strengthen at centre-half and introduce more leaders into the First Team group. Warren is a strong modern-day defender, a top professional, and is another good person to add to the dressing room. We look forward to seeing him in action.”

Meanwhile Hibs are also weighing up a move for freed Blackpool defender Marvin Ekpiteta. The 28-year-old is searching for his next club after departing the Seasiders at the end of the season. Gray is keen to tighten up his leaky defence after losing Paul Hanlon and Will Fish.

And ex-Nigeria Under-20 cap is on a list of targets. It comes after Club Brugge keeper Josef Bursik became Gray's first summer capture after joining on a season-long loan.
