I’m still trying to stop feeling sorry for myself, and be once again looking forward to watching Rugby League, but this week’s been tough. The heartbreak and drama of last Saturday takes a lot of getting over, as does losing our last three finals in a row.

It was a respectable performance from Warrington against a tough Hull FC side, but in a final there can only be one winner and one loser, and the loser was Warrington. The players though can’t be feeling sorry for themselves, as the hard work has to start again as we aim to get to another final, this one at Old Trafford.

It’s important for the club to look forward and not back at this stage, there is plenty of potential excitement and glory ahead for the top four teams in the Super League, and if Warrington want that taste of glory, then the Wembley result needs to be forgotten as soon as possible.

There are certain players who probably can’t wait for this weekend to come and try and put right the wrongs of Wembley. The likes of Stef Ratchford will be wanting to put in strong performance, and Ben Currie probably can’t wait to score another try to quickly forget the horror of the ball slipping from his grasp.

There are only four games to go with what should hopefully be an easy game this weekend against a slumping and injury hit Catalan side. Two points is important to not only keep the pressure on for the top of the table, but to put some smiles on faces once more after the most difficult of defeats. The other three matches come against our rivals Widnes, as well as two huge final games against Wigan and Hull. We are guaranteed top four, but we want to win the league and get a home draw in the semi-finals. We could potentially get both vs Hull FC on the last day which would be a good revenge for the three losses inflicted on us already this season.

If Warrington are to get back on to winning ways, then they are have to going to do it without some of their star men, most notably Chris Sandow and Kurt Gidley. There is still no room for Tom Lineham in the squad which looks ominous for him and his long term prospects of being a Warrington player. It’s been a fairly grim week in Warrington, but hopefully we can end it on a high as league leaders and with Old Trafford and another Grand Final place in sight.

With Hull FC away to St. Helens, and hopefully are still trying to sober up from last Saturday, it’s a great chance for Warrington to end the Super League round at the top of the league. If we do that then we can start to forget Wembley a lot more quickly and put a smile back on our faces.
