Washington activates Reuben Foster from the PUP list
The Washington Football Team activated Reuben Foster from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list Sunday. Foster, 26, hasn’t played since 2018, and is coming off a torn ACL, LCL and MCL.
The team claimed Foster in 2018, days after Foster was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. He spent the remainder of that season on the commissioner’s exempt list, and did not appear in a game for Washington. Foster was reinstated in time for the 2019 season, but tore his ACL, LCL and MCL in his first practice, missing the entire season.
Foster’s return from the injury is surprising, as Foster did not regain feeling in his foot until months after his surgery, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Reuben Foster hasn’t played since domestic violence allegations
Foster has not played a game since he was accused of domestic violence by his then-girlfriend Elissa Ennis. Foster has been accused of domestic violence by Ennis multiple times. In February of 2018, Foster was accused of dragging Ennis and punching her in the head multiple times, resulting in a ruptured eardrum. Ennis later recanted those statements, though said on “Good Morning America” she lied when recanting the statement because she loved Foster and thought he would change. Charges were dropped against Foster. He served a two-game suspension for a gun charge.
After the second accusation, which took place in a Tampa hotel, the San Francisco 49ers — who selected Foster in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft — cut Foster. He was picked up by Washington a few days later. Ennis accused Foster of slapping her in the face, which caused a concussion. Those charges were also dropped. Foster was fined, but was not suspended by the NFL.
Reuben Foster activated after team cut Derrius Guice
Foster’s activation comes days after the team cut running back Derrius Guice following a domestic violence arrest. Guice, 23, was arrested on three charges of assault and battery, one charge of destruction of property and one felony count of strangulation. Guice turned himself in Friday. The team released Guice shortly after the news broke. Guice’s attorney denied the charges.
