Hapless Antony coughs up a miss of the season contender against Southampton
He’s been the £80 million signing who has turned into a figure of fun among football fans – but Antony’s Manchester United career hit a new low with this contender for miss of the season in the victory over Southampton.
"I cannot believe he's missed it!" 😳

The Brazilian winger surprisingly came on for Kobbie Mainoo at half-time as Ruben Amorim tried to buck up his misfiring charges but it was the reverse Midas effect as he slid into infamy just 15 minutes after the break.
United wide man Alejandro Garnacho delivered an excellent cross from the left-hand side which Antony just had to convert from point-blank range. But somehow, inexplicably, he decided to slide the ball in and, as he collapsed to the turf, he only succeeded in nudging the ball back into goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s gloves.
The phrase “easier to score than miss” doesn’t do it justice.
Commentating on TNT Sports, former Scotland striker Ally McCoist said “That’s the miss of the season. I can’t believe that. Why has he gone to ground? Is he unsighted? He’s looking at his studs.”
Over on BBC radio, ex-Everton midfielder Leon Osman added: “That could make the list for the biggest misses you’ll ever see. What a miss. All he had to do was control it into the net.”
After Millwall’s “maddest” goal of the season in the FA Cup on Monday, we now have the worst miss.
