Mikel Arteta faces Arsenal's toughest-looking Champions League group phase game on paper. With Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain visiting north London, it is an opportunity to lay down a marker in Europe.

The Gunners were able to get a respectable if unflashy 0-0 draw against Atalanta in the first round of matches but will be after a first victory here in order to kickstart their campaign, especially with the points tally to secure qualification for the knockout rounds far from certain. They will be up against it though with Luis Enrique's side coming into the game in top form.

PSG have won six of their seven games this season and are yet to lose. On matchday one they beat La Liga's surprise package Girona 1-0, and sit at the top of the French table on goal difference ahead of Monaco on goal difference.

They will be without influential forward Ousmane Dembele though after Enrique chose to leave him out of the squad. "If someone doesn't comply or respect the expectations of the team, it means they are not prepared to play," the Spanish head coach explained on Monday.

"The match [vs Arsenal] is very important and I want all my players to be ready so, as a consequence, I've left him [Dembele] out. I want the best for my team and that's my job. These circumstances are difficult and you have to take difficult decisions. I'm 100 per cent engaged [behind] in my decision and 100 per cent sure of the decision I have made."

Arsenal themselves will be far from full strength due to a plethora of injury issues. Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori face late fitness tests whilst Mikel Merino is back in training but not expected to feature. Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all sidelined as well.
