Aston Villa's young Lions are into the round of 32 in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, which is set to continue next month - and Villa are the only under 21s side who have managed to progress through the group stages.

Remarkably, of the 16 Premier League clubs who had sent out their 21s to take on League One and League Two sides, 15 were knocked out - including the respective outfits for Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Liverpool. Villa's youngsters, under Josep Gombau, took five points from meetings with Fleetwood, Bolton and Barrow and put their name in the hat for the next round.

The Bristol Street Motors Trophy has now reached the round of 32, which is followed by the round of 16, the quarter final, the semi final and then the final, the Wembley showpiece, in April. The competition remains regionalised and seeded until the quarter final stage, so any chances of Villa 21s playing Blues will involve both sides progressing through the next couple of rounds.

The draw takes place on Friday evening (22 November), in the build up to Plymouth Argyle's Championship clash with Watford. The draw is hosted and carried out by Sky Sports, who will have punditry pair Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie drawing balls from the pot.

Villa are in the northern section, for which there are two separate draws; they are in northern section draw B, in the runners' up pot. The three possible teams they can play in the round of 32 are away at any of Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers, Chesterfield or Rotherham United.

The draw B ball numbers are...

Blackpool 5

Doncaster 6

Chesterfield 7

Rotherham 8

Tranmere 9

Port Vale 10

Wigan 11

Aston Villa under-21 12

Games will take place the week commencing Monday 9 December. For the next four rounds of the competition - until the final - all games which end in draws in 90 minutes will still be determined by a penalty shoot-out. All matches will be televised by Sky Sports.
