The Kansas City Chiefs moved up in the second round of this year’s draft to select Georgia receiver/returner Mecole Hardman, and because of his speed and versatility, Hardman could make an early impact.

But before he rejoins his new teammates for training camp next week, he had a little personal business to take care of.

‘It’s going to be a great day’

In a video posted to his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Thursday, we see family and friends gathered outside a brick home, many of them holding balloons.

“I just bought my mama a crib, she doesn’t know,” Hardman tells the camera. “It’s going to be a great day.”

Latrivia Hardman is brought to the home in a black van, and led out of the vehicle wearing a blindfold. Once Mecole removes it and those gathered say, “Surprise!”, Latrivia begins to smile and cry.

Hardman’s caption says he’s “been dreaming of buying my mama a house since I was 8 and now to finally do it words can’t explain how happy and excited I am.”

‘I’m just blessed’

After greeting everyone and wiping her tears, Latrivia says, “I’m just blessed.”

“It makes you feel good as a mother to know that your kids would go to this depth ... it lets you know you did good.”

Though the house wasn’t yet furnished, it didn’t take long for friends and family on hand to start making use of the backyard pool.

As Mecole did a little dance, Latrivia looked at him.

“My silly child,” she said.

We’re a sucker for these.
