Sam Lammers stunned Old Trafford tonight by scoring an equaliser for FC Twente in their Europa League clash.

The former Rangers player and his new teammates took on Manchester United tonight in the first match of the newly formatted league phase. The Red Devils had taken the lead through a brilliant Christian Eriksen finish but couldn't add to their tally despite a number of efforts.

And they were made to pay for leaving their lead a slender one when the ex-Gers forward found the net. Bart van Rooij drove forward with purpose from the right-back position but after he was tackled it was Eriksen who made the error by gifting the ball to Lammers.

The 27-year-old deceived André Onana by shaping to shoot into the far corner and instead slipping it in at his near post and instantly ran off to travelling support for wild celebrations.

Lammers moved back to his homeland permanently in the summer after an impressive loan at Utrecht last season, scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances. He has helped himself to three in the Eredivisie already this season and continued his scoring exploits tonight on the grandest of stages. Celtic loanee Gustaf Lagerbielke was on the bench for Twente.

Lammers struggled at Ibrox following his £3.5million move from Atalanta last year and only lasted half a season before being shipped off on loan.
