Also, Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who is having a very poor series once again failed to contribute with the bat.

Notably, All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was sent ahead of Rahane and Pant, and this move was heavily criticized by fans. Meanwhile, when England came to bat, the English opener Haseeb Hameed did something that Virat Kohli didn’t like at all. Haseeb was seen taking guard ahead of the crease which was very close to the forbidden area. After seeing this Virat Kohli instantly went towards the umpire complaining about the move of Hameed.

According to the rules, a batsman is not allowed to mark the guard near to protected area which is 5ft from the crease. Notably, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was caught doing similar things in the last match which led to umpires suggesting Pant change his stance.

After the Leeds Test in a press conference, Rishabh Pant said: “Because I was standing outside the crease and my front-foot was coming into the danger area, so he (the umpire) told me that you can’t stand there”.

As per Law 41 – Unfair play, the striker cannot mark the guard or take a stance in the protected area or so close to the protected area that frequent encroachment is inevitable.
