Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis blew the crowd away at P&J Live on Thursday night as he scored a screamer in the thrilling final as his side went on to be crowned Scottish Masters champions.

The Dons legends had lost their opener against Rangers, but went on to defeat Celtic and draw with Dundee United, with former captain and centre-back Russell Anderson turning into a prolific striker for the evening.

The wall-to-wall action captivated the crowds, and it all came down to penalties, with Aberdeen defeating Rangers to take home the silverware.

But before the game was taken to the wire, fans in the arena were left stunned when Joe Lewis gave the Dons the lead with an outstanding strike, pinging the ball over both sets of players to bounce into an empty net.

The Englishman took great pleasure in the victory having faced Rangers countless times during his Reds career, which he called time on back in summer 2023.

In the end it would be a miss from Graham Dorrans' that kept the trophy in the north-east, as his penalty struck the bar during sudden death to hand Aberdeen victory.

Lee Miller had kicked the evening off with a superb strike, as the former Dons ace gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about inside the first minute of their first game against Rangers.

That was before Kris Boyd, in his usual role of pantomime villain, taunted the home crowd when he bagged the equaliser as Rangers went on to win 3-2; Derek Young netting Aberdeen's second.

Miller got his second of the evening in Aberdeen's second game against Celtic, cancelling out Gary Hooper's opener for the Hoops.

Jonny Hayes, a former player for both sides, then settled the score with an early second-half strike to leave the defending Masters champions hope of retaining the title on thin ice.

Barry Robson was on the receiving end of plenty of pelters from the crowd, with the former Dons boss jeered by some of the supporters while in action for Celtic.

In Aberdeen's final game, former Scotland cap Gary Kenneth bagged a thunderous opener for Dundee United, before Anderson ghosted into the box to slot home an equaliser.

Young's strike was saved well, but Anderson turned into the poacher and tucked home the second, but Danny Swanson, who won the golden boot on the night, once again pulled the scores level.

The Portsoy Pele Eoin Jess - the oldest player in the tournament - got his first of the night with an immediate reply, but Swanson's second equaliser wasn't enough to deny the Dons their entry to the final.
