Indian skipper Virat Kohli gave a sarcastic response to a journalist when the latter suggested a specific way to score runs. The incident occurred at the post-match press conference following the conclusion of the third Test between England and India at Headingley.

India lost the match following a stunning collapse, as the hosts barged back into the series. At the press conference, Kohli was calmly answering a question regarding the sort of approach the Indian batsmen should have adopted.

As he was explaining, the journalist seemed to break Kohli’s flow by interrupting him. The journalist then went on to explain how Kohli’s men should have gone onto the backfoot to score more runs. Kohli was visibly unimpressed but concluded the conversation with an ‘Okay Thanks’.

England level the series after a beatdown in the Headingley Test

Joe Root and his men were on top of the game right from day 1, as they shoved India side to level the series 1-1. It was a brilliant outing for the Englishmen, having lost the Lord’s Test just a week ago.

Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first, which didn’t work out as the visitors folded up for 78 under 41 overs. England, buoyed by Root’s third century in as many matches, piled up 432 runs on the board.

Although the visitors fought back in their second essay, the deficit was too big to overturn. They were in a position of strength at 215/2 but collapsed spectacularly on Day 4 and were bowled out for 278.

Ollie Robinson did most of the damage with a fifer but was aided by an improving Craig Overton and persistent James Anderson. The fourth Test will begin on September 2 at the Oval in London.
