WATCH: Lalakai Foketi scores outstanding try in Waratahs’ triumph over Reds
Centre Lalakai Foketi caught the eye with a superb try in the Waratahs’ 32-24 victory over the Reds in their Super Rugby Pacific derby in Townsville on Saturday.
With the score deadlocked at 17-17, the Waratahs launched an attack from close to the halfway line with Foketi, Jed Holloway, Michael Hooper and Dylan Pietsch all handling the ball.
Pietsch was eventually brought to ground but offloaded to Foketi, who found himself in the clear inside Reds territory. He was confronted by Filipo Daugunu but beat his opponent after catching him off guard with a goose step and then crossed for a deserved five-pointer.

Ben Donaldson slotted the conversion which gave the visitors a 24-17 lead and they kicked on for the victory after that.
Earlier, the Sydneysiders took the lead courtesy of a converted Dave Porecki try but the Reds soon restored parity when Matt Faessler scored their try with Lawson Creighton adding the extras.
Taleni Seu then went over for a converted five-pointer before Creighton reduced the deficit via a penalty in the 25th minute. The Reds then took the lead for the first time when Suliasi Vunivalu crossed for a converted try but, on the stroke of half-time, Donaldson made it 17-17 when he slotted a three-pointer off the kicking tee.
Foketi’s try followed shortly after the restart and the visitors went further ahead when Harry Johnson-Holmes crossed the whitewash midway through the half.
Donaldson added another penalty in the 77th minute, which sealed the Waratahs’ triumph, before Peni Ravai added some respectability to the scoreline for the Reds when he crossed the whitewash shortly before full-time.
